What’s inside every Candace & Basil bed frame
Most bed frames are hidden under bedding. Ours are built as if they’re always on show — because a frame that’s built right is one that lasts.
Every frame starts with solid North American maple — a dense, stable hardwood that doesn’t warp, flex, or creak. No particleboard. No MDF. No engineered wood of any kind. The structural integrity you need for a bed that lasts decades, not years.
The platform base uses sinuous (S-shaped) springs across the full width of the frame. Unlike rigid flat platforms or slatted bases, sinuous springs provide even, responsive support and never develop the pressure points or squeaks that flat platforms are known for.
The headboard upholstery uses 2.5 lb density foam — the benchmark for premium contract furniture. It holds its shape and firmness for years under regular use. Lower density foam (common in retail beds) compresses and thins within 12–18 months.

The frame is the part that decides whether this bed lasts 3 years or 30.
Most upholstered bed frames sold online are built on particleboard or MDF cores with a fabric wrap. They look the same in photos. They feel different within 18 months — flexing under load, creaking with movement, delaminating at the joints. Ours are built differently from the first cut of maple.
- Solid maple frame — kiln-dried North American hardwood, no engineered wood
- Corner-blocked joints for structural rigidity — eliminates racking and wobble
- Sinuous non-sag springs — even support, no flat-platform pressure points
- 2.5 lb density foam headboard — holds shape for years, not months
- 500+ fabric choices: velvet, linen, bouclé, leather, performance
- Headboard heights: 42″, 52″, 62″, or 72″
- Optional hydraulic lift storage base (most models)
- Collapsible frame option for tight stairwells (select models)
